Events Calendar
As part of our commitment to the communities we serve, BRRFOC/TROC holds regular collections for bulk, electronic and hazardous waste, and sponsors educational programs on recycling in area elementary schools. Our Board meetings are open to the community.
Board Meetings
The Board meets regularly to oversee all operations of the two organizations, including fiduciary administration of reserves and investments, establishing rates and budgets, scheduling and on-site management of waste collection events, and other functions. Our meetings are open to the public.

HHW Collection

TROC holds a series of one-day household hazardous waste collections in the fall and spring across our member communities. These regional collections draw thousands of vehicles, and safely dispose of hazards, including non-empty aerosol cans, products containing mercury, household batteries, oil-based paint, driveway sealants and pool chemicals.

Bulk Waste
Each town manages their bulky waste individually. Contact your local Public Works Department for more information, including what materials are picked up at the curb, and how each community schedules their bulky waste collections. For more information, visit the link to your community here.

Electronic Waste

For several years, BRRFOC/TROC has fielded calls from residents asking how to dispose of obsolete computers, televisions, cell phones and other electronics. TROC holds an annual one-day e-waste collection in one of our member communities. Proper disposal of these materials is critical, since consumer electronics account for a major source of mercury in Connecticut’s solid waste stream. Since 2003, we have strongly supported legislation that would establish an ongoing system for collecting and recycling consumer electronics in Connecticut.
